Raise My Credit Score Now
The cry will soon be everywhere-Raise My Credit Score. Americans will soon be back to work and credit score will be a main topic at the dinner table. After suffering through the worst recession in decades, many consumers have taken hits on credit reports and improving credit scores will be paramount as many will need to replace aged cars and invest in college. To get the best interest rates, you want to do everything you can to raise credit scores. If you want to increase cash flow then answer how to raise my credit score.
But how do you improve credit scores? Where do you start?
Begin the process by getting current credit reports with the scores. Yes, you are entitled to a free annual credit report, but you're going to get what you pay for. The free report will come without scores so you have no idea where you stand in the credit matrix. You will pay each of the major credit reporting agencies about $8 each for the privilege of getting your credit report scores.
You are only entitled to one free report every twelve months. If you got your last credit report in November 2009, you are not going to get another free report until November, 2010. It is not an annual privilege. It is based on a twelve month cycle. If you need another credit report, be prepared to pay for it.
After you get your credit report from each of the reporting agencies, Experian, Transunion, and Equifax, start looking for errors. Credit repair services will dispute everything, but I don't suggest you do that without a well thought out plan. If a regiment of submitting dispute letters is your goal, you need an organization and a series of dispute letters, each different from the previous because credit reporting agencies will often decline further investigation due to frivolous requests. This is within their right to decline your credit investigation requests so don't be surprised if this happens.
Look for errors with your name. Middle initial and surname. Have you changed it recently? Did you marry or divorce? Check your address and make sure your work address is not listed for your residence. Is the date of birth correct? These are all issues that will cause lenders to look twice at your credit requests. They will wonder if fraud is taking place and in this economy they are instructed to be ever vigilant with identity theft and false loan applications. You have to dispute everything that is wrong with your credit report by writing and submitting a credit dispute letter.
