My Credit Mistakes
My Credit Mistakes
My credit mistakes are part of almost everybody's life. Sounds like a conversation at a local bar between a couple guys sharing a beer together and confessing about my credit mistakes. Or maybe between two women at the salon, chatting it up as they have their nails buffed. How about another situation-a conversation between the head guy at Bank of America and the SEC. Yeah, those guys.
The difference is that their exchange, the morose bantering about credit and it's impact on the household budget, wasn't in the same light as the one we have-no slaps on the back or hugs affirming everything will get better. No, these are the same guys who work the angles for shareholder profit-or greed. The same lenders who have taken money from the taxpayers and who have done everything possible to stick it to us. Yep. You and me. B of A.
The SEC sued Bank of America last year, accusing them of lying to shareholders in 2008 as they were taking over Merrill Lynch. Imagine a big bank like these guys accused of lying. How many time have you had an issue with them at the local branch? How many overdraft fees have you paid that were in excess of $33 each-and for every day your account was in the red? Do you really trust them?
The reason I bring up the dirty laundry from the bowels of the high and mighty is because I don't want you to feel too bad about your own credit mistakes. Sure, you and I have both made bad choices and we learn. We rebound and build credit scores up once again. We have to because of honor and integrity and honesty. The next time you are beating yourself up, think of that local branch, the one right downtown, who is creating the credit rules and will never rebound because they don't have to.
