Credit Debt Management will be the key for many Americans in the years ahead. Hammered by excessive fees for years, consumers are fighting back, telling credit card companies no thanks. For the tenth straight month, credit card bills have been reduced as consumers add to their savings instead of making interest payments. Credit report repair is underway.

You might have also noticed that the parade of credit card offers has slowed down. It used to be that stacks of offers arrived in your mailbox and although is slowed for a while, credit card issuers have once again stepped up the pace. Luring more debtors is how lenders make their money and even though Congress has reigned them in, there will always be credit debt. Of course this will lead to questions about how to fix credit. Look for more offers to arrive beginning later this month.

If you are one of the millions of Americans who survived by borrowing from the future, consider creating a budget and living within your means. It may be difficult and if you're not used to living frugally, you're going to be in for a huge surprise. Credit Card Debt Sucks, but you don't have to. Learn proper credit debt management skills. It may be that you have to enter debt consolidation or some sort of credit counseling to get your credit / debt under control.

Stop buying stuff you don't need. It's that simple. If you are  considering moving to a location that suits your income or even taking in a renter. There are a number of credit card management services out there, but if you are prudent with spending, you should be all right.

Erasing needless debt is freeing and it gives you an opportunity to rebuild your life. I'm reminded of the woman who was crying because her house burned down. She didn't know what to do, so the village people told her to go see the wise man who lived at the edge of town. As she approached the simple hut the wise man occupied, she checked her fears, wondering if the sadness of her loss would ever leave her. After all, her home had been destroyed and along with it all her treasures.

When the wise man answered the door, she burst into tears, telling him about the devastation. Where would she live? How would she ever replace what she had? She was lost and standing on the doorstep, she sought consultation and comfort. Instead she received a simple answer and not one she expected.

"Congratulations," the wise man replied. "Now you can rebuild your home the way you want it to be."

With that he closed  the door as the woman stood in confusion.

Economic devastation is a lot like any other type of loss, but you can look at the situation and learn or you can hide your head in the sand.
